30 to 50 amp Service upgrade

I have a 01 Brave 33V that has 30 amp service. I would like to know if anyone has upgraded to a 50 amp service and what does it entail? I would like to be able to run both a/c units in the summer when parked.

I personally can't help with this one but I have seen this discussion in the past. Try doing a search on the title of your post. You will find what you are looking for.

If you use the search function on the main forums page, you will find many links to previous discussions.

Try "30 a to 50 a upgrade"

If you have a transfer switch on the unit it should be easy. I did one for a fellow Bago with a 04 Adventurer and it took less than an hour.

I have converted 2 RVs from 30 amp to 50 amp. If you are not electrically inclined, I would suggest getting with your local Winnebago dealer and discuss this with him. There are a couple of ways to approach the project. On the motorhome, you will have to deal with the transfer switch Shore to generator power.

If done right you need to add a subpanel and split circuits. Not something that most people want to do. The easy (but not best) way is just to move the rear air con/heat pump over to the new circuit. The best way is to balance the loads on the two incoming circuits.

On our 1999 Brave we can run both AC units with the EMS. The generator sends a second feed to the rear AC. You can intercept this feed and plug it in to a second receptacle on the power pedestal.

Thanks,
I did do a search and found a couple of ways. I guess I need to start looking at what I have and where it is. I have done some house wire new and remodeling so I feel ok doing the work myself.

On my MH, the only thing I had to change was the power cord, wire from transfer switch to panel, breakers in the panel and a little wiring mods. The first thing to do is download all 110volt drawings from the Winnebago website.

Yours may be different and more complicated as mine had 50amp as an option, but will be glad to help as much as I can.

Wizard is exactly right as long as you have a transfer switch. just had mine done this summer on my Adventurer 35u by a dealer not a Winne dealer they got a copy of wiring diagram from Winnebago & 8hrs labor which i was told by Winnebago when I called to see if this could be done.Parts were about $400.00 mostly wire & power cord.6 gauge wire is pretty expensive also had a extra circuit put in for wall outlet had enough room in original fuse box very happy with it.
