2022 View 24D - Induction cooktop/microwave convection oven power problem

I have a 2022 24D and my latest problem involves usage of the convection/microwave at the same time as the induction cook top. When I am using the induction cook top and microwave simultaneously; the induction cooktop shuts off and goes blank where none of the controls work. Once the microwave is done, the lights on the induction controls come back on within 30 seconds and can be used again. I opened the circuit breaker panel and I can hear a click behind the panel when this happens, but no actual pop of a circuit breaker. Has anyone else had this problem and is it normal? I would think not.

You don't have a "problem" you simply are asking for too many watts/amps or power from either your generator or shore power. The same is true for any inverter you have on your RV as well.

Either of those two appliances will max out your power all by themselves. The two together, well, as they say in NJ... forgetaboutit.

All devices in your RV that heat via electricity use a ton of amperage and your View has a max of 30 amps. Get past 28 amps in use at any one time and your RV will "shed" loads to prevent both circuit breakers from tripping and damage occurring to your appliance.

Use one such appliance at a time - not at the same time.

By the way, your A/C isn't a heating device but can use 12 to 20 amps depending on the units compressor being in a start or run state. So, using the A/C with the Convection Microwave will get you very similar results as you've described.

You are awesome! Thanks. That is what I was thinking, but I wanted to post to be sure! I also still have to learn how to the convection oven!

A "convection oven" is a fancy term for an electric oven with a circulating fan inside, nothing special about the appliance. It is limited to a 15A maximum draw.

Some high-end models have the capability to use both "convection" and microwave at the same time(actually they alternate), but that's another story.

In the first post the word used was induction, which is quite different than convection. But they still use a lot of electricity and the same rules apply.

I suggest you re-read. He stated " my latest problem involves usage of the convection/microwav-"

Gotcha. I saw the comparison of two things, and thought that was the response. He did say while using an induction cook top, "When I am using the induction cook top and microwave simultaneously..."

What inverter do you have? I have a Magnum. I have it on all the time. If I have a situation where the EMS may shed loads the Magnum supplements power to the convection oven and satisfies the EMS.

Dave5131-

Your system is working as designed.

The answer is here, Zone B-2. Your coach uses a "Power Share" module to switch between the microwave and range receptacles. It would be wired to "favor" the microwave. Two pages up (link here) shows the internal wiring of the module.

Think of the "Power Share" module as a current-activated transfer switch. I have one in my coach, and Intellitec AESS (Automatic Energy Selector Switch), link here. It sheds the 120V supply to the water heater when the microwave is in use.

By the way, the wiring diagrams for your coach are here. The "secret decoder ring" that ties circuit IDs to functions is here.
