2013 Access 26QP. Changing dinette

We want to remove the dinette and replace it with either 2 recliners or love seat and add a table. The question is this: under the right bench of the dinette, on top of the floor, there is a wooden box about 6 inches high, a foot wide and the length of the dinette seat to the wall.
Does anybody know why and what purpose it serves. I had hoped to be flush to the floor.
