2006 View 23H ceiling stud location?

I would like to place a tv ceiling mount in my 2006 view. Are the studs metal and can I find them with a stud finder? Is there a site I can find a schematic of stud locations? many thanks

Call Winnebago Tech services

They will glad to send you a PDF of the original roof roof drawings & specs. I did this a few years ago for my 2005 Adventurer, and within minutes I had a complete set of roof drawings, showing me rib locations, wiring, and rooftop A/C Channeling. This allowed me to cut a 14 x 14" hole in the roof to install a MaxAir fan over the bed with hitting any internal components. They were fatastic!

Just a small correction in terminology, "studs" are the vertical supports in your walls. "Joists" or "ribs" are the cross-members in your roof. I'm not sure what you'd call the horizontal members around the edge of your roof.

To the best of my knowledge, they are aluminum and you should be able to find them with a metal detector that will detect non-ferrous metals. Their locations are often also revealed in the morning dew as relatively dry stripes. There aren't as many of them as you might suspect. Your roof is a laminated foam/plywood "sandwich" that gets its strength primarily from it's laminated structure not its joists/ribs.

Here's a link to a graphic of the 23H's structure (see the last page). It doesn't have measurements but should give you an idea of their general location:

Personally, I wouldn't hang a TV mount from a joist/rib. Hanging it from one of the horizontal members around the perimeter of your roof would be much safer. Section A of the graphic shows the sidewall to roof structure.

I agree with BobC.. a ceiling joist might hold up a TV when stationary, but when driving, the dynamic force of the TV weight might destroy the roof in that area.
That would be like walking on your roof to wash it, but would you use it as a trampoline?

You might compare the drawings of your MH to the drawings of a MH that came from the factory with a ceiling-mounted TV.

I don't know what your options or desires are in terms of TV mounting location but, in general, mounting TVs in a high location is far from ideal in terms of viewing comfort. I have plans on relocating my TV from above the windshield to an eye level location for more comfortable viewing.
