2002 Horizon / Journey dash heater leak

We have a 2002 Itasca Horizon 32TD with a coolant leak from the dash heater.

Have researched here for the past 3-4 hours, and have found some references to needing to remove the front cap to replace/repair the core, and even a reference to a step-by-step by BattChief as a how-to guide, but after all this time, I am unable to locate the step-by-step referenced in one of the multiple threads I was able to find.

Someone referenced the thread by BattChief as being authored 04/09/06, but it does not come up with anything that I can find using the search engine.

I admit to being pretty much computer-challenged. Hoping for some assistance in finding the thread reference. Not afraid of the work, just would like a primer to help me avoid the pitfalls.

Thanks, Steve

I had seen this one earlier, and this is not the one I was looking for as it does not describe how to remove the front cap to access the heater core, but instead speaks to replacing the core connectors without removal of the front cap or the core.

There was this one too in his list of threads...

https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...zon-17963.html

but it also doesn't have the info. Battchief mentions in a post of perhaps putting together a step-by-step but nothing posted.

I suggest you try sending him a private message asking if he ever did the writeup.

Find this thread? Quotes BattChief's instructions and has some pictures.

I changed the heater core in a 1999 Adventurer. The setup is very similar. Access wasn't easy, but I got it done without removing the front cap.

Edit...
I think this is the original thread.
