Talking 1989 Chevy Winnebago Warrior

First motor home for us. Slowly fixing her up and any advise is welcome. Runs well and has 58,000 on it. I was told that the tire size on it will soon be very hard to find so I need to start looking for different size rims and tires.

I really doubt that. But what size are they?

8R16.5 is equivalent to a 203/65R16.5

Closest match seems to be a 215/65R16.0 but the inner opening diameter is slightly smaller with the 16.0 so your wheel might be unsuitable. But I'd imagine a junk yard would have plenty of 16.0 wheels. Don't know anything about the bolt pattern though. You'll have to research that.

Here's a head to head comparison: https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc...16.5-215-65r16

Click 'Overlay' to compare...

Amazon has the tires for $56: https://www.amazon.com/Westlake-RP18...G85V377HN8KA2N

Cooper and Hercules are two companies I know that still make good tires in that size, There is still a lot of delivery step vans in service that use that size. Just don't expect to find them as a stock item at a tire retailer.

I had a 1991 Winnie Warrior class A. I went to a tire dealer and got all new rims with the larger more available tire size. (don't remember exactly) but the replacement steel rims were not that expensive. It one thing you need to make sure that the Dual rears offset is big enough so that the sidewalls don't touch when the weight of the MH is on it going down the road. One problem was that the speedo was off but I just used my GPS anyway.
