Furnace won't fire up

Helping cousin with 1985 Winnebago Chieftain with electronic ignition furnace.
Furnace acts like it wants to fire up. Fan starts up, ignition fires up several times but flame never fires.
Also noticed that house batteries were shot, broken open. But coach is plugged into shore power so I wouldn't think battery health is an issue?
Any suggestions? Does the circuit through the coach batteries need to be complete, and batteries fully charged even though we're on shore power?

I would think if the fan is running you don't have an electric problem. I would start the gas range and see if you have gas flow....

Yes the battery needs to be charged. The furnace runs on 12 volts.

What unit is it? The fan can go to slow and wont open sail switch. If fan is going fast enough then the sail switch and another switch my crs wont remember, has to be checked. Most the time it is the control board. If it is a suburban, google "Suburban furnace SF 20, or 25. Luck to ya

Homeless, failed to mention that stove runs fine.. Propane tank is full and valve is open.
Judy, coach is plugged into shore power.. Didn't think coach batteries were needed if plugged in to shore power. Should have 12 volts through converter..No?

The fan runs on 12 volts, so if it's running, the converter is passing 12 volts to the furnace.

If you hear the ignitor discharging, then check for a blocked/pinched LP line. Is there a fuel shutoff valve in the line to the furnace that needs to be opened?

If the ignitor sparks but the furnace does not light, you could have a bad solenoid-operated gas valve or a bad control board that's not signaling the gas valve to open. The control boards are a very common culprit.

Also check the main orfice on furnace sometimes spiders make nests in orfices so gas does not get through to ignite.

If the furnace is trying to start but fails I would check the ignitor air gap or sometime the porcelain on it cracks. Cheap fix to replace.
Another thought....my brother-inlaw had an older Chieftan and the carbon monoxide detector in his was bad, it would trigger a solenoid that shut off the gas to the furnace.
