Auroras over Northern Canada

While I only see Tepees in the picture, I could also envision the Eagle5 parked out there too, taking in the sights of Auroras over Northern Canada. While the still picture below is wonderful, I never knew how dynamic an Aurora Storm really could be. Check-out the real-time live video from December 2014:

Certainly mesmerizing, this photo comes from the 10-9-2022 Astronomy Pic of the Day.
Keep Looking Up!

When I was in college in southern Michigan back in 1971 (‘68 - ‘72) one night at around 2am a neighbor knocked on my apartment door and said “Come see!” I’m glad I did because it was the only time I’ve seen Northern Lights. They looked like your picture but higher in the sky and, of course, not photo enhanced. They moved and snaked around in an ever changing green light show.

We’ve been to Canada a number of times but never seen them again. I doubt we ever will now living in South Texas.

We see them here now and then, but the conditions have to be just right, and you have to be in the right place at the right time.
