Actual Case

This is an actual case brought by Mrs. Merv Grazinski of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Grazinski purchased a brand new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, (from an OU football game), having driven onto the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back & make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the RV left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Mrs.Grazinski sued Winnebago for not advising her in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually do this. The jury awarded her $1,750,000 plus a new motor home. The company actually changed their manuals on the basis of this suit, just in case there were any other complete morons around.

I had to check this out. The Mrs. turns into a Mr. and the names change; nothing I've found substantiates this is anything but an urban legend. Here are three links - there's more, but these drive the point home. It's a funny (although scary) scenario, though.

I once was behind a small motorhome going down I-4 . We watched thru his back window . The driver very cautiously left the drivers seat and stretched out and successfully retrieved something from refridge .

A woman cries out in a Tim Horton coffee location; ..."OMG...I just won a Motor Home! OMG! My husband is going to go nuts!". The Tim Horton's manager heard the commotion and walked up to the patron...and said; "Madam,...it's impossible you won a motor home..for the best prize in the Roll Up The Rim cup...is a BBQ!"

She said...; "oh no you don't....I AM WINNING THIS AND HERE IS MY CUP TO PROVE IT!"

The manager received her cup to read under the rim, -->Win a bagel !<--

The story about the OU football fan reminds me of another story about OU.
What do you get if you drive very slowly through Norman, OK?
A degree.

So, no surprise.

Paraprosdokians

First time I heard about paraprosdokians, I liked them.

Paraprosdokians are figures of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected and is frequently humorous.

(Sir Winston Churchill loved them).

1. Where there's a will, I want to be in it.

2. The last thing I want to do is hurt you ... but it's still on my list.

3. Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

4. If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

5. We never really grow up -- we only learn how to act in public.

6. War does not determine who is right, only who is left.

7. Knowledge, is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

8. To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.

9. I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

10. In filling out an application, where it says, "In case of an emergency, notify..."I answered "a doctor."

11. Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy.

12. You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

13. I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

14. To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

15. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

16. You're never too old to learn something stupid.

17. I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find someone older than me.
