Late in October last year we were at the factory for repairs. At night we stayed on the rally grounds and I was surprised to find a very strong WiFi signal provided by Winnebago. They did not have that before. The question is ....... how well will it work with 1,600 MH's there? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

VOIP will pull that bandwidth down to zero 30 seconds after the GNR opens. Get your email at 3AM!

Sorry for the late response, but we'll also be attending the GNR this year. I didn't know this post was being used as a role call. I'm also happy to report that almost all the coaches that went on the Alaska #1 caravan last year will be in attendance.

We will be attending for the first time, on our way the next week to Oshkosh EAA international aviation event. Two events for the price of one trip. Looking forward to the get together. We will be in the LEOWIT row.

I've already posted that we'll be in the California row...and we've been to the rally grounds before and we're familiar with the setup.

This will be our very first rally of any kind so please forgive my/our inexperience. I understand there will most likely be hunny-wagon service. So our question is. . .since the MH sites only have electric, how will the coaches be able to get fresh water if needed, without moving the coach?

Thanks

Just up the highway from the rally grounds is Pammel Park, a city-owned facility. There are at least four dump stations and also fresh water faucets you can use before, or after the GNR.

At each end of the row in which you will be parked is a fresh water faucet. Once you are parked, folks get together, joining hoses to fill everyones tank. We normally use water from the tank and when we need a refill get a few hoses together, if necessary, and add more water.

Everyone is very cooperative about this.

There are a number of water faucets in the rally grounds. None are too far away from any coach. As a said in a previous post, when you need water, and you are not close enough to the faucet for your hose to reach, your neighbors will be happy to share their hoses. One year we connected three together and all of us filled our tanks using each others hoses. Don't worry, there is a lot of cooperation and helpful people around you. However, they suggest that you arrive with full fresh water tanks and empty black and grey tanks.

After GNR 2006, we spent a pleasant week at Flying Goose campground about 66 mi NW of Forest City just east of Fairmont MN. They have a lake, sandy beach, and other attractions. There are two areas, one on the water and the other nearby. Some sites are seasonal rentals, but without the clutter we sometimes see at seasonal places. Everything was very neat when we were there. Their website is www.flyinggoosecampground.com

Not too far from the rally?

Three Fingers Campground is just west of Forest City.

We are "newbies" to the forum and will be attending our first GNR this year. "Goodie" for us; we have twin 17 month old grand daughters just 15 miles north of Forest City to visit, so it will be double pleasure.

Will leave Surprise, AZ May 19th on the way for the summer and a 5 month summer trip.

We haven't been there, but we'll check it out for future use.

After careful deliberation, we are forced to cancel our trip to the rally this year. With the ever rising cost of fuel, we're going to be taking shorter trips this year.

Sorry to hear that but we perfectly understand. We would like to be on the road all summer, but we are cutting it back by about 50%.

Check Beed's lake state park near Hampton, IA. There are many other Iowa State Park campgrounds; Google to find a website giving info about them.

We will be there in Lower D.

This is our first rally and we were unsure of exactly what this all entailed (things to do, what to see, how we get water, stuff like that).

After reading this thread and others on this forum, we learned a lot of good information and are getting really excited about going. Thanks all for sharing the ideas.

Gas prices may make this the one and only, but we aren't going to let it stop us.
