Replaced ac capacitors and fan or ac wont start

Replaced the 3 capacitors in my ac with the ones linked below. None of theses worked and tested different combinations of new and old. When i turn on fan or ac i hear a humming and it sounds like its coming from the fan motor. I even physically try to turn the fan to get it going with no luck. Do I need to replace the fan motor? 2003 minnie winne model 329b . AC model number 8335B676

It may or may not be the motor - as a compressor failure is most common. You get a pin hole leak in the refrigerant line, all the oil leaks out over time and the compressor seizes up.

Remember to always include your year, model and floorplan ID in any request for help. We have no idea what RV you have or what type of A/C unit - roof? basement? brand?

So I was able to get the fan started with lubing the fan shaft. It kicks on every time and the ac blows cold air when turned on. However the air output is much less than before and the unit still makes a weird noise. I assume from the fan motor. Maybe its not fully unrusted?

Hopefully, you got lucky and it is the fan. If so a new fan motor isn't very expensive. What's expensive is if you buy capacitors and a new fan motor and that's still not all the wrong with the unit.

The fan will fail again. The bronze bushing bearings are shot. The lube you dropped in will buy you a little time but not much. Trust me, years ago in Vo-Tech school, we used to try to get 2nd life from window fan motors. Not a single one would last more than a couple days.

The part that is confusing me, why change 3 capacitors (I see one is actually a hardstart kit), was this a preventative maintenance or were you having problems from the onset?

Have you tested the 3 capacitors to see if they are in fact bad? If you don't have a meter with mf testing find an electric motor repair shop near you and ask them to test them.

I figured to replace all 3 while I was up there. I just received a replacement fan. About to swap it out in the next couple days. Is that what you were suggesting I do?

If it were me, yes, I would replace them motor. The gamble not worth it - the motor will likely fail when you need it the most.

Yes. Depending on the age of the unit, it's typically cheaper than replacing the compressor.

We have a 2010 Journey with basement AC 6538B871 and were fighting much of the same that you have been dealing with. We replaced the fan, bearings, capacitors and we still couldn't get the second stage to come on. Ended up replacing the control module and everything works great and we have a really smooth running fan as well.

All in, we spent about $450 for Fan, capacitors, fan bearing, and control board but we have a very quiet, smooth-running AC unit again. Worth the money to update the condition of the system.

I had noisy bearings in mine. Brought the motor to a motor repair shop and they replaced the bearing that was bad. $85. Did the work while I waited.

If your motor has sleeve bearings you can get a replacement with ball bearings from a motor shop. I'm near Birmingham where there is the need for such services.
