Norcold 2 Door Fridge Frosting Up

Hello, fellow owners. We have a 6 year old Norcold 2 door fridge. We’ve been experiencing significant frost buildup on the fridge coils. We defrosted the unit yesterday and the frosting has started to occur again. A couple of questions I’d appreciate assistance on, please:
1. can the fridge and freezer door seals be replaced?
2. is it possible to add thin weatherstripping to the door seals without potentially worsening the situation?
3. can a thermistor be tested instead of just replacing it, hoping that is the problem?
Thanks to all.

Short answer? YES, No, yes!!!

Sorry! Just feeling mean...
1. But the seal is one of the things I might first look at and it can be replaced. Have you seen the test using a dollar bill shut in the door and see if it has some pressure as you pull it out at different places on the door? Funky, cheap test but you may spot a place where you are getting too much outside air.

2. I've never been happy with that working out to add.

3. But there are many sites with good info on testing the thermister and it is easy, just that I have to look to be sure every ten years when I get around to wondering!
Drives me crazy to wade through twenty minutes of "drama" to get the basics on U-tube, so I want YOU to do it!

Again, sorry bout that !

The most common cause of frost buildup is dirty seals, which then do not expand and seal properly.
I worked on mine by first washing and drying them, then used an old hair dryer to gently heat and pull the folds apart, then using cotton balls to hold the folds extended until they cooled to room temperature.
Another common cause is people. The open the door and hold it open while deciding what they want. This allows the chilled air to spill out, to be replaced with warm humid air. Now multiply that by how many times the fridge door is opened each day.
The solution? Decide what is needed before opening the door, then retrieve it as quickly as possible.

Since absorption refrigerators recover slowly this also means some people are complaining about the fridge not cooling enough/adequately.
