Fridge- electronic box

2004 Winnebago Journey 34H. Fridge is a Norcold. What is this electrical box on the back of the fridge? The fridge works well, the box just hasn't been connected/powered since we bought the coach.

bjboles-

That is the Norcold "help prevent the refrigerator from catching on fire" a.k.a. "recall" box. You should put it back in service. This page at Norcold describes the recall.

Better yet, install an ARP "Fridge Defend" in addition to the Norcold "recall" box. The ARP unit works better than Norcold's at reducing the risk of fire. Link is here.

This page on the ARP site describes how to troubleshoot the Norcold "recsll" box.

On a side note!! My 07 Meridian had the Norcold safty switch recall box thing. This may be way yours was disconnected. Mine kept tripping and turning the frig off. Thats what its is to do when there is a heat build up problem. In reading different posts on the subject found a way to reset it with a magnet.

After fighting with the switch way to often it came that it would not reset. To make a long story short ended up being frig. was shot. Time to think of what to do.

We decided to go with a totally 120v replacement cooling unit from JC Refgeration. Did work ourselfs could not be happier.

This may not be your problem
