Coleman MACH Blew the Blower Wheel!

I don’t remember who posted about this weeks ago. But, I remembered it when this morning I heard this God Awful noise coming from the rear of our coach, roof area. I immediately suspected AC and shut it down. I was thinking “Blower Wheel?”

Got up on the roof and removed the outer cover and the cover over the blower wheel and here it is! Photos attached..

Fortunately, I had saved the Amazon page for the replacement part in my Amazon Lists and here it is…

So, as soon as I get the replacement in, I will follow up with pictures of the replacement process.

This issue was an appropriately 2-year issue with these Coleman-Mach A/C units. They seem to have this corrected now. I checked both of my A/Cs about 15-months ago and both had updated fans already in place from the factory. My RV is one year newer than yours.

Make sure to check the fan on your other A/C unit because if it’s one of those bad ones it will probably be next.

A couple of years ago I started hauling a spare blower wheel/ squirrel cage a few years back. I was fortunate (or maybe unfortunate?) enough to salvage a wheel and a bunch of other parts from a Coleman heat pump that failed on the rig requiring a total replacement. Gives me some comfort knowing I can have one to quickly change out if I'm on the road in warm summer months if the infamous grinder sound starts up in one of the roof top units.

Joe, you are right….Be Prepared! I just wish I had a spare right now. But, these things are hard to predict.

I replaced the Blower Wheel today. A TORX T-25 was required to get the screw off that secured the wheel to the motor shaft. After getting it back together, before replacing the covers, I had the wife cycle the rear AC on, and everything worked. So, now I am going to order another Blower Wheel part from Amazon and do the front AC soon. It will probably go bad too.
