Basement Warming

I have a 2008 Tour, does the heat pump warm the basement in the winter or do we have to use the furnace when it drops below freezing? We are going to be in northern CA (Yreka) this winter so I would expect a light winter compared to northern IN (where we live) This will be our first winter since going full time.

I would not expect the heat pump to warm the basement, only the gas furnace.

No. Gas furnaces only. They only run when the heat pump can't work because it is too cold.
