A/C heatpump 08 Adventurer

37B Adventurer 08.A/C heatpump trouble. I wanted to warm up coach but the heatpump comes on runs a little while and turns off w/o warming coach. Not sure if it cools. Can this be serviced or do I need to do more troubleshooting?

A fair percentage of the time the valve that switches from cooling to heating gets stuck in the cool position. Take the outside cover off and look at the freon tubing for a valve with a couple of wires to it. Tap it lightly with a hammer and try again. Might work.

How cold is it outside? If it's below 30 degrees your thermostat may be turning off the HP and trying to start the LP furnace.

Ours does this automatically at around 34 degrees.

Sorry, I can't help on those basement units.

I found is a Service Manual - which does talk about heat pump operation. Don't know if it's helpful, but here it is anyway. Hope it helps.

I took a quick look at that manual and it seems to be one of the better manuals for actually letting you fix things, so I would sure go with it as a really far better source of info than many of us could give!
It seems to get down to the specifics of what part of operation to expect in what order and what the possible causes are likely to be.

I found another two hands and eyes to help. My exterior squirrel cage doesn't startup on its own. If it started it will usually go from low to high. Bad news is it doesn't have bearings just bushings. Will need to find someone down the road to replace it. Thank you to everyone that helped- especially to creativepart- for the manual.

It's Saturday and I'm in Key West and my a/c, fan, heat would not turn on. I ran the heat last night and then switched to a/c when I left for breakfast (dogs). When I got back it was off.

Thermostat was working and cycling through all the settings but nothing. I read the manuals and couldn't figured it out. Called three places and no one could come out on a Saturday and it's 79 here 87 in the RV.

I read this thread and tried your suggestion. I don't know what I did but it's working now.
You saved me a lot of discomfort and a big $$ service call.

Thanks!!!!!
