30 to 50 Amp conversion
I bought a 2001 Adventurer recently , with basement A/C , and found the TRANSFER SWITCH was defective.
I decided to eliminate it completely and install an internal 30 Amp receptacle to plug in to use , during generator usage times.
Everything works fine , except my Powerline amp monitor does not show the 2nd compressor load when it is being used.
It works fine .... just does not register on load meter.
I am now considering changing Shore Power Cable to 50 amp for overall better performance , but have the following questions......
1 ) .. should I change breaker box , or any wiring leading into it ?
2 ) .. If so .... to what ?
3 ) .. which breakers need to be changed ?
4 ) .. would the 2nd leg of the 240 cable go directly to Compressor #2 breaker , which feeds Compressor #2 ?
5 ) .. Would a quick PRAYER be advisable ?
If anyone here has taken on this project , I would like to know how you addressed it.
Thank You ...... Rich

By the way .... you may notice my unit looks DIFFERENT !
That is because I re-striped it , and created a custom logo for it.
I was in the sign & graphics business for 24 years.

If you're not seeing the second compressor load when using the generator, this is normal. You'll see it if you run both compressors off your 30A shore power.
See post #7 here:
https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...ps-135616.html
There are several good Winnieowners' threads on converting from 30A to 50A, here's one that's pretty complete:
https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...on-351367.html
And here's another where I've posted some links (post #2):
https://www.winnieowners.com/forums/...ml#post3842611
Good luck and, if you do the conversion, start a thread. I have yet to tackle this since most of the places we camp (state parks and the like) don't seem to have 50A service.

30 to 50 amp Conversion
Thank you BOBC ...... however , in MY case the 30 Amp SHORE POWER is set up , so I do not see the " #2 Compressor " showing .
I am not certain about the generator , since I am not using it yet.
I need to try it.
I HAVE DECIDED , after looking at several Pigtail Modifications on this forum , to use to following configuration ........................
Run the 3 wires from #2 Comp coming from Coleman Basement to a 20 Amp male plug.
Install a 20 amp receptacle for #2 breaker from ONAN 20 Amp breaker circuit ... for gen. usage
Add an additional 20 Amp shore power cable to use when at a park to plug into
AND ........ when I am in my driveway , and no need to run other appliances , it can just run off of my 30 Amp plug , as it does now.
It currently runs both compressors , as is , but just does not register on Powerline meter , in hallway , however trying to operate any other appliances , would lead to problems , or complete failure.
I think this will work fine , since the XFER SWITCH was bad when I got it , and most of my research indicated that ALL of the lower priced unit had poor reviews.
I will finish this project tomorrow ... so take cover if you hear a loud explosion and see a LARGE cloud of smoke in the distance.
