Need more info. Where did you hook hose up from. Home, rv park? How long did you run water?

Welcome to the forum! We're sure glad you joined the gang here!

Sorry you're having trouble with the Winnie! I would suggest that you post questions over in the appropriate areas of the forum for best results. Not many folks hang out here in the Welcome area. Maybe one of the Moderators will move this question over for you!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Hello and welcome to the forum. I have moved your post to the Winnebago Owner's section so hopefully it will get more responses to the problem.

Do you know if the RV was winterized? Perhaps it wasn't "un-winterized" properly and there is residue in the lines.

I guess this MH instantly heats the W/H threw engine so that's why water was hot and nothing was turned on

Sounds like your unit has the motor aid feature.

Motoraide: On most Winnebago/Itasca motorhomes the engine coolant is circulated through a heat exchanger inside the hot water heater. The heat exchanger heats the water in the hot water heater while you are driving so that you always have hot water when you arrive at your destination.

Bad Smell: The smell is most likely an indicator that you need to service your hot water heater. There is a thread on this forum on how to sanitize a hot water heater ... it involves, draining, flushing, filling with a vinegar solution, flushing. This video should be helpful

When you disconnect the water supply to the motorhome the water heater stays full. It holds 6 to 10- gallons of water. Left to sit for a few months the water becomes stagnate and smells terrible. You will need to drain the stagnate water and flush your heater, then I would sanitize the whole system.
OH YES, Welcome to the group.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new rig.

All good advice and I have nothing to add. Service your water heater and the bad smell should go away. You might want to sanitize your fresh water tank while you're at it since you already know that some stagnant water has been hanging around in there.

Best of luck. We're glad you found us.

Rick
