Whatis this?

Any idea what this is? I have a stuck black water valve and attempted to take a picture of it with a flexible camera. I think that's what I took, but not sure

Thanks for quick reply. Valve sometimes opens all the way, most times about 1/4, which is where it is in picture.

It could be that the cable is binding inside its jacket/sleeve or it could be that the blade valve inside the housing is binding. You might try to squirt some silicone spray on the cable and work it back and forth but it is hard to get it all the way through the whole length. Also if you can reach in and squirt some silicone into where the cable goes into the blade valve assembly. You could also try a cup of fabric softener in the toilet with the black tank nearly empty. It will act as a type of lube for the rubber seals in the blade valve but is only a temporary thing to try.

I've already given it a couple treatments with Thetfords RV drain lube which hasn't helped. Can't understand why it closes easily, but won't open.

Romer1 - I'm glad you posted this situuation, not glad you have it. We just started the same kind of thing with the black tank dump valve and your rig is very similar to ours. I have been contemplating removing the panel but that looks like a winter-long project with messy prospects. I'll be following this thread with interest. Good luck. Hope you find a solution before I can get around to fixing ours.

Have an appointment with dealer next week to have it fixed. Will advise outcome.
I have no desire to remove everything to get to the valve.

Just got it back from dealer. They removed and lubed the valve and cable Everything seems OK now.

Here is a link to a post I made on iRV2, with pictures of the wet bay before and after "cleanup." It's not for a Winnebago, but you get the idea. It was not difficult to remove the white panel or make the improvements. I left the cable-operated valves in place, but improved the rigidity of the panel by adding the aluminum angle pictured to hold the cable ends.

A year later, I "eliminated" the cable-operated valves. Actually, they are still there, but open and not used. I made a new sewer outlet pipe.There are now hand-operated valves directly above the sewer outlet, where I can easily see and operate them. It took three tries to glue up the sewer piping correctly, but was worth it. Perhaps you can convert your Winnie in a similar way.
