Water softner

Anyone use a water softner, either portable or permanently installed? Which do you prefer?

We got one last January and really like it. We bought an “On the Go” Standard model and it works well. If I had to do it over again I would have bought their larger model the “On the Go” Duo. Just because it needs regenerated less often since it’s twice as big.

With the standard model we have to regenerate the unit about every 3-4 weeks. It’s not hard to regenerate it, but takes about 20-mins.

I store my softener in the same tall compartment that I store my hose and pressure regulator and I’ve installed brass quick connects on everything so it’s super easy to set up.

We are using this one. It seems to do a pretty good job. My wife wishes it had a setting as it will work almost too much when we re-gen then trickle off to a nice treatment for the next few weeks. We’ve been using it for about 1.5 years now.
I also added a whole house filter before this but after the pressure regulator on our setup. Both just sit on the ground outside of the utility cabinet.

You’re question reminds me that I need to get a couple pounds of salt as we’re out in Palm Springs now and the water is pretty hard.
