Water Pump help

Looking for some insight into water pumps. Ours keeps turning on intermittently for just a few seconds. I thought water leak and removed drawers, panels, etc. to look at as much as possible the plumbing and floor area for leaks. Found one small drop at sink faucet and fixed that but no other leaks. Is it possible for the pump to loose internal pressure causing it to turn on? As far as I can tell the pump is original 2004 pump.

Yes, the pump can lose internal pressure causing the pump to recycle. If you are sure you don't have any water leaks that would seem to be the problem. As a suggestion: Is it possible to cap the water line that comes out of the pump at or real close to the pump. If you can do that and the pump cycles you'll know it is the pump.

It MAY also just be air in one or more lines. If you have already allowed each line to purge the air, then it is either a leak or a weak check valve in or near the pump.

It can also be the water inlet check valve, where you attach the water hose.

Water Pump help

It is the built in check valve because mine did the same thing. You have 3 options 1 replace the pump 2 rebuild the pump and 3 goto hardware store and buy a check valve and install it on the input side of the pump. If you have the little filter put the new valve between the pump and filter. Do not put it before the filter because the filter is not made for pressure. The reason I know this because I tried to take that short cut.

jazzerjump, A couple of more places to check are the city water fill valve and the hot water tank relief valve. Cycle the city water fill valve a few times and check the hot water relief valve for any drips.

Thanks to all for suggestions. Checked HW tank and no leaks at pressure valve or plug, also dry behind tank at water line connections. Will see about trying other suggestions. Currently dry camping so don't want to waste any water but will do more when in a campground

You don't have an ice maker in the freezer, do you? That one had me baffled for a while until I figured it out. I've also heard mine cycle just due to temperature changes. The PEX plumbing definitely expands a bit as it warms up outside. Good luck with your troubleshooting.
