Water not mixing properly

After replacing the water pump in my 2003 Adventurer 35U, I have encountered a problem where the hot and cold water on all faucets including the shower do not mix properly. The temperature alternates between cold and really hot. Has anyone encountered this?

Couple thoughts
1) Air in the line somewhere
2) Leak at the pump where you connected the old lines to the new pump allowing air in

Make sure your outdoor shower valves are closed.

No leaks. Air happens after I drain the system for storage, but bleeds through the individual hot and cold lines when I use water for the first time at the beginning of a trip.

I cycle all faucets until air is gone.

Just for the record, this is the pump I bought:
SHURflo 4008-101-E65 3.0 Revolution Water Pump.

I also have the silencing kit installed.

Not necessarily. The outside shower head has an off position, so the faucets could be on and I'd be none the wiser. But, the faucets are off and I just checked for air. No air.

Very odd problem.

A faulty, (or failing). check valve in a waterline to or from your water heater can cause that.

I would check the water heater by pass valve. Mine failed last year and produced the symptoms you are describing.

Thank you for that, please excuse this question as this is a major thing to get to and replace: Have you actually experienced this?

Thanks for understanding,

Scott

When you say failed, did it fail to bypass or just broke? It's a simple valve and mine shows no signs of blockage or improper operation.

Thanks!

It failed internally and allowed the water to mix.

In a previous MH my water would give you a burst of (hot or cold) which I do not remember when using the switch to shut off the shower head. I would need to aim the shower head away when turning it back on for a couple of seconds.

My resolution to that problem was to put a ball check valve in one of the lines leading to the shower head. Now I do not remember which one weather it was the cold or hot side but it really helped.

Since this is a new problem for you the symptoms sound like a check valve that is not working properly. It would be nice if someone could post a picture of where that check valve might be located.

Last Jan. I replaced my then 19 year old WH check valve while in a Mississippi campground, (a mobile tech there working on a 5th wheel had one in his truck).
Mine was accessed through a kitchen cabinet door.... yours may be easy or difficult to access depending on the WH location.
Google "how to replace rv water heater check valve" for info and pics.

The check valves are located on the input and output of the water heater.

That may be true of some water heater check valves on some coaches, but on my WH there's only one ...(it's on the input)... while others have them only on the output.... and others have none at all.

I will have to research the location. My water heater is on the passenger side in the front compartment. There looks to be room to get in there for a smaller person, but not for me. :(

The OP has a 2003 Winnebago, I have a 2005, I would presume there are in the same place on his motorhome as mine, or at least that is where I would look first.

I looked under and behind the water heater, no joy going in from the wheel well or behind the water heater. I'm going to check out the plumbing diagram to see where the check valve is located. If nothing comes from that, I'll check with the manufacturer of the water heater.
