Water noise

What is it? When we run water we get strange sounds and it's Not the pump.

Only when running Water from city or pump? Is the HOT water HOT and the cold water cold?

It's a 2008 Winnebago Adventure limited the water is hot the hot side and cold on the cold side.,

There are several devices that can make noise.
The water pump tends to sound a bit like a jack hammer,, about that speed, in fact that is exactly what it is. An electric "Jack hammer" but that's another whole post to describe.

Then there are check valves... One on the city water inlet, and possible 1 or two on teh water heater.. This make a much higher pitched sound, Kind of an EEEEEEEEEEEEE and opposed to a pound pound pound.

All normal, it's caused by the spring loaded valve opening and closing at anything less than FULL FLOW.

Finally we have a pressure regulator.. Same thing Slightly different note.

If from the hot water side, it IS the water heater checkvalve. These things are made very poorly. When mine failed it shut the hot water off all together. The replacement sings, a poor tune at that.

Hope this is what is bugging your system.

The valve (Hot water check valve(s) are the very first thing coming out of the water heater. They are screwed into the water heater inlet and may be so tight you can't get 'em out

There may be a 2nd one on the inlet as well (for no reason I can think of but they put 'em there).

As someone said, these fail.. it's what they do.. I recall one Mother/Daughter team trying to figure out what was wrong.. Surburan told them there was no such valve (Well there is not when it leaves their factory) When I first told 'em about it. So the Mother looked (She is what many would call a "Strong Woman" meaning she is a long, long way from helpless) sure enough it was there, She was unable to remove it so she gutted it (Pulled the guts out with a pair of pliers) She was very happy to be back in hot water again.

She has since fixed it properly (Traded up the RV)

Winnebago for some reason likes to use 2 check valves on water heaters.
1 on COLD inlet....bottom line going into WH
1 on HOT outlet...top line coming out of WH

The plumbing lines connect to fittings on WH.
THOSE fittings are the check valves (just a plastic plunger/spring/o-ring assembly held in place via a plastic clip on end of plunger)

Typically the HOT out (top fitting) is the problem.
Scale/calcium build up from heating water collects on HOT out check valve causing it to chatter.
Chatter noise is early warning that it will fail.

Check valves are used to cut costs..easier/cheaper to install vs extra fittings/plumbing to install a shutoff valve.

Check valve is just a cheap means of stopping backflow which is only an issue when bypassing WH

You can replace with same cheap plastic junk
You can replace with a better brass type check valve
You can just remove the internals and deal with it later
You can gut it and install a shut off valve (best option)
