Via 25Q Water Pump (or lack of) Problem

We have just purchased a new to us 2012 Via Q25. The demonstration of the unit had the water hooked to the city supply. All the faucets, water heater etc worked and when the pump was turned on it made noise. The display panel showed the fresh water tank was empty. Today in the driveway I filled the fresh water tank, the display shows full and I closed the valves according to the owners manual. The water pump turns on but we get no water. I found the pump under the rear bed and pulled the clear bowl off. No water there.
What am I missing? The owners manual states there is a check valve in there. Where?
Thanks for your help in advance.
