Travato Fold-Down Sink Latch Assembly
I thought there was a thread on this issue but I cannot find it (anywhere, even on other forums).
Yesterday, the fold-down sink would not close, and when I tried to "unlock" the "female" part of the latch (attached to the bathroom wall above the "alcove" into which the sink folds, the entire assembly that holds that latch came off. It appeared to have been glued on, and either heat or bad craftsmanship left it weakly attached. I did a temporary fix with duct tape (and even that didn't hold, I suppose because of the heat buildup, and, yes, I had the a/c running (tangent: the temperature difference between the interior of the van and the inside of the walls is astounding).
Note: the existing latch takes a lot of punishment (just like the one on the earlier Travato). Yank it to open it, slam it to close it. An assembly held by glue isn't going to stand up to that.
My question: has anyone else had this problem? I definitely remember reading somewhere about how someone solved the problem by changing how the sink is held up inside that "alcove" when not in use. Some other sort of latch as I recall. Anyone remember?
Any thoughts? Similar experiences?
