I have the new porcelain toliet with the side handle for flushing. It is very hard to push down for flushing. I sprayed the cable with WD-40 which helped, however, its still hard in my mind. I was wondering if anyone else such as BucknJeff or John Canfield who have similiar units are having the same problem with theirs?

We have the same toliet and yes it's not the easiest to flush. I also sprayed some WD-40 on the cable,on the top and also removed the rubber plug down on side of the bowl and sprayed that end of the cable. I also had to put some lock tight on the set screw in the handle, it kept coming loose.

Same thing here. Hard to flush seems to be normal operation. My set screw kept falling out and once I replaced the screw without pushing the handle in firmly. The set screw chiseled the end off the flush arm and I had to get a new assembly. I now have the flush arm installed on the new assembly with lock-tite on the set screw. It will probably fall out again.

WD-40 is a poor lubricant. It is actually a water displacer for electrical cicuits.

Try silicone spray lubricant.

Woody,

Our handle is not particulary difficult to operate - it is just different from the stick house toilet. After having many different kinds of marine toilets on our sailboat, I resign myself to the fact that they all have their pecularities.

What does REALLY BUG ME about ours is the stupid lever must be pushed from its horizontal position to a 90 degree position . I have gotten pretty good at flushing the thing with my bare foot so I don't have to do my usual contortions by using my hand.

One of my projects on the to-do list is to devise a handle that attaches to the stupid horizontal flush lever.

Like Tom said, WD is not a particularly good lubricant. Try a product developed especially for lubricating cables or a lock lubricant that contains graphite. Shake it well and be careful of spills, graphite does not come out of carpets easily (voice of experience).

Thanks for all the replies. I complained about it to my dealer who stated that they have had several issues with them. I was just wondering if mine was worse than others. I will try a graphite lubericant.

Ours twisted completely off. Try flushing this
thing then the shaft the handle attaches to is
broken off. I was able to get a vise-grip clamped onto the stub and it twisted off again.
This is not a very good design. I was finally able to use a screwdriver to turn the little cam enough to pull the valve open and empty the stool which prevented a difficult situation.
I suppose we needed to lube that cable way before we did.
