Tapping into the propane supply

I have a 2016 View J24.
I’m wishing to refill a 1lb “throw away” propane container from my propane storage. I could tap off under the stove and have a flexible tube into the 1st storage unit behind the cabin door. I wish to refill a little distant from the vehicle.
I assume the existing tube to the stove is 1/4”
Any suggestions as to who would supply propane compression fittings and the T - preferably with a cut off..

What you are proposing won't work. A propane tank is filled with liquid propane and it vaporizes and the vapor is what is fed to the regulator and thru the low pressure lines on the output side of the regulator to the propane appliances in your RV.

You have to refill a propane tank with liquid propane. It is possible to partially refill from an upside down 20 lb propane tank, you can view videos on youtube on how. With the tank upside down you can get some liquid to flow from the 20 lb tank down into the 1 lb tank and get a partial fill.

Thanks for the information. You saved me from a lot of trouble! I’m trying to set up a table top stove for use in warmer weather - without having to cart 20 lb containers around. I suppose I can take a few disposables and refill at home.
Thanks again for replying.

They make a refillable 5 pound propane tank that is a lot more manageable than the 20 pound tank.

I use a refillable 1 gal propane tank with my Weber 1200 grill on my RV. Works great and is easy to store.

https://www.amazon.com/Worthington-2.../dp/B000SKX63U

It uses a kit to transition from the little bottles to the larger refillable tank.

We get dozens of grill sessions from the one gal tank and simply have it refilled just like the bigger tanks.

That's about what we do. We have a small 1 lb tank shaped like a flattened oval. Uses a standard hose with standard regulator-to-tank fitting on one end and the other end has an adapter to fit the grill. It stores anywhere in the lower storage bins & does lots of grill sessions. Refillable anywhere that does regular sizes. It costs so little to do we keep it topped off.
I just saw that REI sells a slightly larger version called a propane "growler".

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply,. I’m a little astonished at the cost of a 1gal tank, but demand must be low, Just what I need though. Thanks again,
