I replaced the OEM 2.8 gpm pump with Shurflo's Revolution pump which is rated at 3.0 gpm. It is an exact fit. I had read so much negative about the larger pumps and this one is working fine.

I just replaced my Shurflo with another Shurflo I found on eBay. Works great. Same fittings, same power connections. The holes did not match up exactly (different model and way many years difference) but not a big deal in my case.

What happened to the shurflow pumps you guys have replaced?
Is it a motor problem or a pump problem?
Has anyone taken them apart to determine the failure?
I rebuilt one after 10 years of service for $15.00 a simple rebuild kit did the job

A rebuild kit might have worked fine (lack of suction), but as it was a very old pump and the price on ebay was reasonable I simply decided to replace it. Now that I have it out, I may take a moment to check/clean/rebuild and then I'll have a spare or use it for some other situation, or heck eBay it.

Kinda weird the way mine quit. It was working just fine, then we went out for this weekend and it didnt work at all. I checked the elect. and have 12V at the pump when I operate the switch. Glad we had hook ups.
My old pump is a 2088 403 144. I called shur flo and they say its replaced by 2088 422 444 for a direct replacement.

I replaced mine too. Mine was less than a year old and I left the pump switch on while on an 8 hour drive and got to my destination and thought it was makeing a funny noise. I ended up replacing it myself Shurflo's Revolution like SML did. Still makes the same noise! :-) CW 80.00. And it did not line up either. Another 20 minute job took two hour after I made a trip to Home Depot. That was before I found iRV2.

Talked to the guy at the shur flo Booth at a rally ;; nice fellow;; told me to take the plastic end off, Pheleps screws;; clean it real clean ; take the screens off clean them up real good. and try it;; He said to call him if it didn't work; That was 2 years ago; It still works perfect;; Dirt and scum block it up;; Works like new ; about 1 hour of my time;; life is good;;Oh they have 2 engine protection switches on them.# 1 the water pressure switch; #2 a thermal heat switch on the moter that shuts it down when it gets hot; that one will let the pump start after it cools down. the other of course the water pressure. If the pressure is not there it's the thermal one;; The pumps are quite simple. and will last a lifetime if kept clean;;

I replaced my pump yesterday, and easy 25 minute task.
I took my old pump home and took it apart. It was clean as a whistle. On the rear is a screw that you can adjust the pressure, I moved it back and forth and put it back in the same position.
Reassembled it and it works perfect. Whats the deal???
Anyway, I guess I have a spare pump.

Took mine to the Shurflo booth at GNR. he couldn't fix it, so he gave me a new one. Now I have a spare.

Question to all you Shurflo folks:

I replaced my 2006 pump in Quartzsite, and even though it is the same model (Extreme 5.7), it's control is different as the original has no adjustment. On the original pump, it had amazing pressure control at low flow, you could hear the pump chug slowly under low flow demand, and the power regular on it would whine (not a bad thing, that's what DC switchers do).

I replaced it because it started intermittently not coming on when needed while we were in the desert. The new pump with the adjustable pressure regulator doesn't appear to have the same control at regulating flow at low volume, like a low flow from the faucet, ice maker, etc. The new one bleeds off pressure, then comes on to restore pressure and it creates a pressure surge; exactly what this pump is supposed NOT to do (right)?.

Has anyone else noticed this, or do I have another broken pump?

Sounds goofy to me Jeff. I have a 2.8 gpm in the new Journey. I added a small surge tank to the line and it settled the surge down quite a bit. I still have an old 5.7 on the work bench.....

Has anyone had any luck taking a 5.7 pump apart and fixing a leak around the head? I'm on my second replacement due to water leaking at the head and soaking the mat covering in the compartment. Shurflo has replaced both under warranty without any question so maybe it's not fixable.

Shurflo has a rebuild kit for the 5.7 pump. It's not that expensive, but since most of the pumps fail within the 3 year warranty period, just getting a new one makes more sense.

My 5.7 started leaking after 5+ years. I took it apart and found fatigue cracks in the diaphragm assembly. The best price I could find for the replacement was around $60-70. The service guys I talked to recommend changing the valve assy too .... at a cost of $50-60. So rather than spend $120 on parts, I ordered a new one from Adventure RV in Tenn for $148 in July 2009. I see now the price is close to $170.
