Question re: fresh water tank - '05 Itasca Sunrise

In preparing for our first 'outing' with our new (to us) '05 Itasca, I'm having trouble filling the fresh water holding tank. The level gauge says it is empty and I believe that is correct. However, when trying to fill the tank, water gushes out of a hole above the tank and the gauge doesn't move off empty. I first thought it must be an overflow but not sure that's correct since the tank (I believe) is not full. Any thoughts?

What model Itasca? On mine, I can see the top 5 inches of my tank inside the front storage compartment just aft of the front wheels to check the level. My overflow is outside below and in front of the tank.

It's a Sunrise model. I'll go out and look in the storage compartment to see if I can see it. Also, I opened the gravity feed to insure that there was no air block and that didn't make any difference.

Is there a valve in your water supply compartment to select Fill or City water?

It's a good idea to always open the gravity fill when you fill the water tank. Sometimes the tank overflow can't keep up with the water coming in and will flood your basement compartments through the gravity fill box. I speak of experience with this.

Just a dumb question, but did you change the diverter valve to the "Tank Fill" position prior to filling the tank?

PROBLEM SOLVED ... thanks to Harry B! I looked in the storage compartment as suggested by Harry and, lo and behold, there was a 1/4 turn in-line valve that was open. I closed it and the tank began filling as it is suppose to. Thanks to all who responded... especially Harry B!! / Larry L. aka 'Gogator'

I would now be concerned why water was coming out above the tank. Is this inside your compartments, or underneath the coach?
