Propane level sending unit

I have the Manchester clip on model g12846 remote sending unit on my propane tank. The gauge is reading 1/2 tank and when I push the button on the panel in the coach it reads empty.

I have taken the gauge off cleaned the back where the magnets are. I cleaned the connections on the wires. Still no difference. There is power as the inside panel lights up. Do these go bad? any thoughts
