Plumbing fittings

Where to get & what type of plastic fittings do you need to do some water line repairs. My vectra has hard 1/2 plastic.

Your Vectra is probably like my Journey. It has Pex plastic tubing with plastic compression fittings. Most are 1/2 " ID.

Home Depot sells only sharkbite and other type fittings that require special tools so I purchased plastic fittings at my local RV dealer.

Hope this helps.

The Sharkbite fittings form Home Depot work very well with the 1/2" Pex. The special tool mentioned cost $1 it is used to release the fitting should you want to remove it at a later date. That is what I used to install an under sink water filter.

The fittings Winnebago uses are made by Flair-it.

You can buy from them directly:
Flair-It Store - Flair-It PEX and Polybutylene Plumbing System

Or you can find them on ebay or mobile home parts retailers.

Not saying they are the best, or easy, or anything, that's just what they are.

If the area where you want/have to work is tight, the Sharkbite fittings worked very well for me. They just push on, and fit very tight and secure.

When You do repair as the ones mentioned, You need to go to a RV/mearine place to get the right ones. DO NOT GET THE FITTINGS FROM HOME DEPOT.. They are home fittings.

Pex tubing is pex tubing. I've always bought my replacement stuff at Lowes and it works just fine.

If anything, the fittings from Lowes/Home Depot may be better. Winnebago uses Flair-It fittings
