I have the same system, Truma. I leave the gas on and don't notice any major use of propane. BTW in the winter the water heater heats the underside of the corner bed and the fresh water tank on my J model.

Perhaps Truma has fixed the issues other manufacturers have had since it works flawlessly. Hot water as long as you want.

sorry art, just making a joke. where i was raised in rural alabama, we also referred to it as a hot water heater. we got a hot water heater in 1959 . we moved near a town where there was electricity, and could get a propane tank. that was when we finally stopped bathing in the creek.
