Looking for an elongated rv toilet for Minnie.

1999 Minnie 31C . . . I'm obese . . . and have never had an rv with a toilet that was a good fit or comfortable. But made due. Who makes an elongated toilet that will go in our RV? Problem I'm having is the dimension specs on sites don't show the length and width of the toilet seat! Also need a low profile (12") cause it's built on a riser.

Look at the Dometic Model 321. It has an elongated seat, ceramic bowl and is low profile (13.5"). Attached is the installation manual for Dometic toilets and gives dimensions of their standard and low profile toilets. I installed the standard height 320 in our Micro Minnie, it works well and is a nice upgrade from the OEM Dometic 300.

Thanks . . . and I'm sure I've looked at that. But would prefer hand flush (on a riser) and not ceramic. Still don't show the seat hole dimensions.

Model 320 seat hole dimensions: 12" L. x 8 3/4" W. I would assume the same for the 321.

WOW! Damn tempting. Did I mention I'm a cheap bastard? My wife too! Her purse has cobwebs on it. Paying for ceramic is not a deal breaker . . . but it does slow it down a bit.

Do you think Dometic is better than Thetford?

I can't comment on Thetford, I have no experience with their toilets.

I forgot, the 321 also has an enameled wood seat.

If you do choose the 321, critical for installation is the distance from the flange bolts to the rear wall, you will need 11".

This all plastic Thetford RV toilet is ADA compliant, foot flush.

I have a Dometic 320 I bought new. It is a badly designed piece of what goes through it.

The ball valve can easily pop out of its pivot point from simply cleaning the bowl. The bowl won't hold water, and oders from the black tank come into the living area. The ball valve gasket goes bad and is a real treat to replace. The water valve on the back of the foot pedal lasts about a year and will leak fresh water on the floor. You want to buy multi-packs and always have a few on hand. The latest issue is that the foot pedal wears out and opens the ball valve as you try and fill the bowl with water.

Those are just the problems I have had, and I'm not alone. Others have had the bowl separate from the base, allowing what should go into the black tank leak into the base and the floor.

Please don't take my word for it. Do a search on the Dometic 300 series toilet problems.
