Hot water Tank Noise
Hi, all, do any of you have any idea why my hot water tank makes a noise anytime I turn on the hot water, it's kind of a whistle sound? This started about 2 weeks ago. I have drained and flushed it, it was clean, still make the noise.

Had the same thing happen with mine. The check valve was beginning to get a deposit buildup. Change out the check valve and it should clear up.

Check valve, might as well change it out. Soon, you probably will not have hot water when it fails.

do a "search" of the archives in irv2 for water heater check valves. you will find a lot of info as well as pictures.

On Winnebago products it is normally just before the lines go into the HWH tank.

Same problem I had and had to replace twice in 9 years. I could not fit into the small compartment to do it myself, so I took to a dealer, he had a little guy that could and it did not take him long to replace.

Thanks everyone, I took it in to a local repair shop in Nipomo (Central Truck and RV Service) they fit us in and did a great job. They replaced both valves, glad I have a extended warranty.

Most RV water heaters have a check valve on the input and output hoses. If your check valve is hard to access, don't bother to put on a new one. Many technicians feel (justifiably) that water heater check valves are unnecessary. That way, you won't have to go through the hassle of replacing it again. We ditched ours a couple of years ago. No more defective valves. No more clogs. No more whistling water heaters. Heater works like a charm.
