Dometic 300 toilet

What could cause this fitting to spray a stream of water over the top of the rim when flushing ? Does it weatherhooked to city water regulated to 40 lbs or with use of fresh water tank.

Hi OldSup,
As your toilet is new, I believe we can rule-out any calcium deposits. I would guess it is from one of two things:
1.) It has a plastic shaving stuck in the spray head somewhere, deflecting the water upward.
2.) You inadvertently purchase the bidet/toilet combination option.
Assuming it is #1, I believe you will need to remove and clean the spray head.

I will check that out. System is dry right now. Assume I have to get that out from the back..

I would want to start with a look at the manual for that specific model before trying to force it off without knowing what you have.
Do you have a book for the toilet in the big packet of info?

In looking at section 5.1 of the Service Manual, it does not appear that they spray head can be removed. However, it does appear that you can remove the vacuum breaker on the back of the toilet. Perhaps you could back-flush the spray-head with the vacuum breaker removed?
If this doesn't work-out, a new Dometic 300 toilet is $193.

One thing I have learned is that plumbing+forcing=breakage... I do have manual but doesn't really do much on this subject. Hey, this is a brand new camper and I have learned a lot from reading this forum is to try and take matters into my own hands instead of waiting for the dealer to take care of it. Not a lot of room to get my hands back there to do anything. I haven't gone to you tube yet either, its just that the wealth of knowledge in this forum seems to be able to steer people in the right direction.

Sorry you’re having toilet problems OldSup.
But one thing you should know is that the Dometic 300 toilet is the cheapest toilet provided as OEM in any rv on the market. It’s all plastic, is terribly uncomfortable, noisy, and prone to breakage in the first year. It’s the laughing stock of toilets. You’ll see a running joke in this forum that Dometic made a sweetheart deal with Winnebago when they convinced them to go with the Dometic 300 as standard equipment for lower end travel trailers. Dometic gets to sell two toilets for every trailer Winnebago sells. First one, the Dometic 300, then the inevitable first year replacement with a second; better quality Dometic toilet.

Fortunately the Dometic 310 is a plug and play replacement for the 300. It has a China bowl, and elongated solid seat. It was one of the “first three” upgrades we made to our trailer after only 3 months of agonizing camping with the Dometic 300. Save yourself some big headaches and just replace the dang thing. You’ll be happy you did. Treat yourself and spring for the Dometic 310 model with the hand sprayer. Makes it “never have to say sorry” for accidental messes. About a half hour of installation contortions, then you’re done and sitting on a proper throne.

FYI- after getting your input this issue, I sent an email to Dometic. I have hearing issues and for many years have preferred to have issues like this in writing. I got a response back from them asking for all the info in regards to my problem and they are replacing the toilet. I had an issue with our backup camera and after discussion with the service coordinator at our dealership, learned it was best do try and get these items straightened out myself. Our camper was also shorted a counter extension that had been in all the pictures we had seen. Obviously a supply chain issue. Sent email to Winnebago, and they are sending out to us. Wow, feel pretty good about this !

I'm with Marine359 on this one. I've replaced two plastic toilets with porcelain bowl toilets and wouldn't have it any other way. Your 300 may also be a low-profile model, another good reason to upgrade. Installation is an easy DIY project, especially if you've ever replaced a toilet or toilet ring at home.

If I am not mistaken the 310 series needs a deeper rough in measurement than the 300 series (from back wall to center of drain).

It is indeed. But it’s less than 1/2 inch. It fits snugly against back wall without deflecting the wall. That’s in our Micro Minnie, and I would suspect for all TTs. TT threads have lots of happy 310 replacers, and none who reported it didn’t fit. Don’t know about motorized. But, that surely could be found in the motorized threads.

Those were not my findings, I found the 310 series to need 1.5" more than the 300 and 2.5" more for a 320 series. Believe it or not there is a worse toilet than the Dometic 300, the Thetford Aqua Magic which has many shortcomings. The Dometic 300 is actually an upgrade from the Thetford product. Unfortunately I am stuck with the Thetford due to 7-5/8" rough in, I can't even fit the Dometic 300 let alone the 310 series although I would love to. I have researched this thourghly and reached the conclusion that I am forever stuck with the crappy (literally) Thetford product.

I dunno, you could be right. But I bought the 319 and it dropped right in, in place of the 300. Folks on the MH thread would know for sure in the case of your coach.

I have seen the posts about the rough in needed for the 320. Actually, Dometic sent me an option to try for a fix to my problem. It is to slightly bend the fin on the right side down slightly to redirect the spray from the top of the lid. I won't have a chance to try this for a couple weeks since we aren't going anywhere till then. I am very comfortable with changing out toilets in the house, so I don't think it will be much of a challenge. From what I understand, getting the replacement will take while anyway.
