Next time your Norcold ice maker tray is empty stick your finger in where the water freezes into cubes, if it feels rough the factory coating is probably coming loose. There are no replacement parts for that portion of the ice maker, you will have to buy a new ice maker. If you do a google search you will find new ones for about $185.00 plus shipping.
This is the second one for me and Norcold is no help.

umm... for those of you who want to save over half that price...

The Norcold Icemaker is a standard unit made by FSP (Whirlpool) and Best Buy stocks them for a bit over $65.00. I think Dometic also uses the same unit. I had to transfer some brackets, but the install was pretty straight forward.

Moder2,
Sorry I took so long to thank you for your post but I have been up to my ears in other things.

I'll check with Best Buy today.

Best Buy price is now higher than other sites on the I'net. I found it at D&D Appliances:
http://www.ddapplianceparts.com/products/UNVIM98_MAYTAG..._MAKER-53423-77.html

In the future I will remove & dry the ice maker after each trip.

I run the fridge/ice maker with the water line turned off under the sink overnight and that empties out the trays for me.

Jon,
Turning off the water every night is definetly less costly than replacing the ice maker every 2 or 3 years. Why didn't I think of that? I'll tell my wife that I thought about that, she will be surprised to know that I haven't stopped using my ancient brain.
