Another smelly toilet - 2019 Minnie Drop 170S

We've got the smelly Dometic 300 toilet in our 2019 Minnie Drop 170S that so many have written and videoed about. This trailer only has 8" from the floor bolts (flange) to the back wall so the Dometic 310 and 320 model toilets are too big to fit. I need some advice on 3 choices:

OPTION 1: Replace toilet with another Dometic 300
Q1: Is the only "improvement" to the 300 the addition of another O ring seal where the two halves join? Does this work and solve the problem? Or???
Q2: Should I caulk the seals of the new 300 toilet before installing it -- as shown in videos?

OPTION 2: Replace the model 300 with the better 310 or 320 model by rotating it 90 degrees so it sits sideways?
Q3: Can I move the two mounting bolts 90 degrees around the floor flange? Or remove the flange and rotate IT 90 degrees -- so the bolts are in the right place?
Q4: Do the Dometic 310 and 320 toilets ALSO have the same problem (an internal leak that allows dirty water to accumulate inside the toilet) as some have said?

OPTION 3: Replace the toilet with a Thetford VI Weekender which should fit.
Q5: Is this a reliable, solid toilet? It doesn't look very sturdy.
Q6: Are there OTHER options from other manufacturers -- or from these two?

I need a quick solution since we're heading for a month in balmy Florida in three weeks. Thanks for your help!!!

Greetings

I swapped my Dometic 300 right away with a 310. Same fit but porcelain. They say they have fixed the 300, but I would pass and move up a model or 2. The 310 is an exact fit replacement. Some say the 320 is a little larger. Plenty of you tube warriors which have made the replacements. 😁

Hi, I realize that you question is about your toilet producing smells, but if you don't have one of these installed in place of your standard vent, you should try that, it made all the difference for us, never had another problem.https://www.amazon.com/Rotating-Sewe...72&sr=8-6&th=1

Yes a ventilator is a great idea. The Dometic 310 is just too big to fit in my Minnie Drop.

Yes, these really do work, all it takes is the slightest breeze, I've never had a problem with odors since I started using these several years ago, worth a try.

Thanks DN. Good point. Now, we've figured a way to rotate the Dometic 310 90 degrees so it WILL fit in our Minnie Drop. A little awkward but shouldn't be as smelly.

Dometic 310 in Minnie Drop

Ifound the dometic 310 will fit in my Minnie drop by turning it sideways against the back wall of the bathroom. Not ideal but better than the leaky, smelly 300 toilet.
