WiFi Hotspot

Any use iPhone/tablet as WiFi hotspot specifically for inside temp monitors.
We travel with pet and concerned when we leave pet behind during the day.

What brand do you have? Can always depend on campground wifi.

I have been using the Verizon MIFI for a few years now. I have always had good luck with that. I do not like to count on the parks wifi for much.

I use an old tablet as a hotspot. I link a wi-fi camera to it and point the camera at a temp/humidity display. I can then reach the camera via my cell phone to monitor the temp for the dog while we are out.

I have seen an ad for Temp Stick that is about 130.00 that has temp monitor and will email you with alerts but have not tried it yet but it does need WiFi. We use a VZW MiFi that we leave in Motorhome and have a AcuRite Access system(966ESS System) with 3 sensor and connects via a RJ45 cable. We use a Wifi Extender that has a RJ 45 connection and monitor lower bay, inside Temp and outside temp and you can also set alarms when inside or bay temp gets too high or too low and either email or text you or both

Something to consider,
I am not putting down anyone's efforts to find a good monitor system.
It all depends on the situation and how far and how long you may be away..
If you could find a system that was totally dependable that would alert your cell phone / email, could you get back to the RV in time to save your dog ? Heat Stroke can occur quickly as the heat gets above 80 and death soon after. In many states it is now illegal to leave a dog unattended in a vehicle and also provide protection for any citizen who may rescue an animal they consider in danger. My guess is law enforcement will consider your RV to be a vehicle and work out the fine points of the law later.

Wouldn’t it be better to have an auto generator start setup thAt can trigger if RV park shore power goes down, or trigger on temp inside for when you’re boondocking?

That way AC can keep your pets safe.

We have the AutoGen also. We have the monitor notify us at multiple levels.
When the kitchen area gets to 78 is when we get our first on my phone, once it hits 80 it goes to both of our phones as both a TEXT and EMAIL to get our attention and then again at 82 and 85 degrees.

I bought a round camera device called Canary which operates on WiFi and enables me to view live video of my interior, albeit just the main room, but it also tells me the temp and humidity in the motorhome. You can also set it to alert you if anyone tries to get in your unit. Amazon-$49

We use RV Pet Safety and you don't need WIFI they have an apt that you put on your phone that monitors temps and your can set limits and get alerts by phone, email or text. Cost is $150.00 per year and when we aren't using it for our pets we use it to montor temps in the RV while it is idol during the winter -- very nice product and great customer service

I recently purchased a temperature, humidity and power monitor made by MarCELL. It was very affordable and well worth the (approx) $80. I paid for it. An inexpensive monthly monitoring fee is also required. It operates off of a cell phone signal. It notifies me via text, phone and/or email whether the parameters I have set have been exceeded. I recommend this device highly, and I am confident my pet is comfortable during my absence.

You shouldn't leave your dog in your RV while you are away, especially not when it is warm outside.

Thank you for you’re concern, my pet is safe & secure in our AC RV home. Additionally, I am constantly aware of conditions within and am able to react and return to RV immediately. This was the only purpose of my information.

We also love our canary. While it needs a hot spot, which we also would not travel without, we love being able to check temp and humidity, but also being able to see how our dog is doing. It also doubles as a security camera when the dog is not there! :-)

We use a Verizon MIFI conneted to a Netgear antenna and RVWHISPER sensors, and Reolink cameras to monitor our RV.
