Our local CBS affiliate station is running a TV ad about the Wheel of Fortune cast/show coming to our area last weekend in April. The footage includes shots of what appears to be either a 32 or 34 Journey with a wild 'Wheel of Fortune' custom paint job.
I'm sure this thing is working its way around the country. Has anyone seen it up close?
We will be on the road when it is here so will miss it. Wonder how it is furnished inside??
Also, with all the coach manufacturers available, it certainly is a plug for Winnebago that CBS selected their brand. They certainly could afford a Newell or Prevost, etc.

As early as 2000 when I was working with specialty vehicles Winnebago Industries delivered a vehicle to "Datek On-Line" and I participated in the technology integration with the vehicle. Built on an F53 using a 35 foot commercial coach body w/o slideouts I installed wiring and network cabling for 8 hard wired computer systems that worked through a Novell server and that was able to use a satellite down-link for Internet content. Those were the days.
Winnebago is very well positioned to provide these types of vehicles to the commercial sector because they have an in-place design team and a separate fabrication facility for the purpose.
Controlling cost regardless of what the budgets are is essential now days. Working with Winnebago and their commercial team contains costs and delivers to the marketer or customer their product on-time and ready to go to work.
The list of commercial customers using Winnebago specialty vehicles is rather long and they also produce vehicles for medical and emergency specialty use as well.
Every project has to have an ROI so spending ~$350,000~ (plus) on a shell for a short term specialty vehicle is really not something that a lot of executives are going to look at seriously unless the need is very specific.
Winnebago can deliver a complete vehicle for a lot less money that a Prevost shell and I'm sure that figures quite heavily when the design team is getting the job done and the vehicle on the road.

Good points. I was aware that Winne had a specialty vehicle operation. There is a local group called St. Francis of Asisi who has an 'adventurer-looking' winne specially built as a mobile spay-nueter hospital for pets.
My company is considering the possibility of getting into a new business that may require one or two specialty motor coaches. I have already suggested they contact Winnebago if we get that far in the business plan.

It appears Wheel of Fortune has more than one winnebago.
There is a "Wheel Mobile" that appears to be a Journey and they say it's a 32 footer.
There is a "Brain Bus" that Winnebago says is a Sightseer.

When I was at the factory last year there was a matching 40' KD Horizon parked across from mine being customized and it had a whole lot of things not seen on a normal coach. When Friday came around and they were test driving my coach I could not help but ask my tech about it and he said it was a custom built coach for Homeland Security And I was offered a tour WOW! It was a mobile command unit with the whole bedroom being all computer servers and high tech gps tracking equipment, the whole living room area was individual stations with what looked like every thing needed for a disater center, it had a boom installed on the roof that would go up 35' for satellite hook up and it was designed to withstand a lot more than our normal coaches. I was very impressed and even suprised I was allowed to see it!

Winnebago makes lots of specialty vehicles.
You can see some of them complete with floor plans here:

I was talking to Ed Cahill, at the time CEO of Fleetwood Industries over lunch and he said that Hollywood called and the producer of "Meet The Fockers", starring you all know who, just about asked for 3 free motorhomes in return for on-screen exposure. Just imagine the American viewing public will get to see your brand name RV in the movies and on DVD for years to come. Ed said, "You can buy them if you'd like but we're not giving away motorhomes today!"
Ain't nothing for free much anymore.
Now any bets about the new Robin Williams movie, RV ?? Did they or did they not buy the motorhome OR was it given to the producers for FREE ???

They don't do anything for free. Somebody's paying and I'm betting it's you and me. They just pass the costs on to the common person, Neat to see your brand on the TV but I don't think neat enough to pay an extra few hundred dollars on the sticker.

About the Robin Williams movie, I just saw today in a commercial that the "RV" is a gasser and definitely a Ford.

Now I'm really concerned I sure hope our homeland security gets better service then most of us do. Could you imagine ole Bin Laden doing his thing and our homeland mobile command post down for 5 weeks waiting for parts. Sheesh what a thought

Your obvious Ford bias is disconcerting.
