What is the blue flickering light above the TV?
2016 27n
Above the main room television, there is a round light that is approximately 3/4 inch round. Whenever the TV remote is pushed, the light flickers blue.
I assume that this is some type of TV remote repeater that is designed to repeat the signal back to the Sat box (which is located above the driver's seat).
I can find no documentation on the "device" and I am mostly just curious what is does and how it works.
Also, in the cabinet above the driver's seat where the Sat box goes, there is a smallish cable that has two "buds" on it. The "buds" look like miniature earbuds from a music player. The "buds" have a two-sided tape on them like they are supposed to be attached to something. Any idea what these are?
Thanks, as always
Bill

It is indeed a repeater for the Audio/Video equipment that is located in some media cabinet. The items with tabs on them are called emitters that you "stick" over the IR receivers on for example the Satellite Dish Receiver or DVD player etc..
Here is an example of the unit I have = On Amazon you can search for
"Cables To Go 40430 Infrared (IR) Remote Control Repeater " or use the link below.
Amazon.com: C2G / Cables To Go 40430 Infrared (IR) Remote Control Repeater Kit (Black): Electronics

I think these are Self Destruct Indicators. Make sure to cover your head when this lights up.
Actually, I haven't got the foggiest idea but the Devil made me say this.

Thanks
This makes complete sense. I just with they would have included a manual or indicated what it was in the owner's manuals.
Best regards to all!

The flickering light is an activity repeater for the I/R repeater. the sensor is next to the flickering light.. if the light is flickering when you are NOT pressing a remote button read on.
The buds are the Repeater's transmitters.. They take the replace of your REMOTE when it comes to sending the signal to the devices (Which can not see the remote due to closed doors and such)
Now.. What can flicker the light?
FLorcesent lights will often activate the flickering light. And some LED lights may as well.. Incandascent lights generally do not.
Recommend,, Turn off lights to see if it stopps the flicker, If it does, sheild that light so it does not shine on the sensor.

Thanks for the additional replies. I have placed the transmitter buds over the sensor on the Sat box and now everything is working like it should!
Wife is happy. We don't have to have the overhead cabinet open to operate the box!
I sure wish that they would have included a manual about this thing with all of the other booklets and such. Oh well, that is what makes this a great forum.
Thanks again
Bill

IR Emitters and Remote Controls
I would like to get a clearer understanding of how a device’s Remote control works say, with the bedroom TV with the door closed. Here’s my setup in our 2015 38Q:
1. Tivo DVR connected to Accessory Connection Cable (ACC) 1. The associated IR Emitter is attached to the Tivo box.
2. Apple TV connected to ACC 2. The associated IR Emitter is attached to the Apple TV block.
In the lounge the Tivo is on and running. I turn on the HDMI Video Selection System.
In the bedroom i turn on the TV and set input to HDMI. Using the Secondary Source Selector anchored on the wall along side the TV I select HDMI 3 which is the Tivo. Video from the Tivo is displayed. Now to control the Tivo using the Tivo remote where do I point the remote? At the Secondary Source Selector? And is my understanding correct that the Secondary Source Selector relays the IR signal to the appropriate IR Emitter thus repeating the signal - in this case the Tivo remote command? Is this how it works?
Thanks

Kent0826 The IR receiver for your rear TV is mounted on the bottom of the TV. See picture below.
The link below is the Audio/Video System Diagram for your coach. The key to the remotes working is the infrared emitter placed on the device and the input device must be connected to the same port on the HDMI 4X4 Switch.

Thanks GT.
Once I placed the emitter on the Sat box, it all worked.
I did not even know that these things existed. I just purchased a new home and we placed our surround sound, sat box and DVD player in a cabinet far away from the TV. I bought one of these and it works like a charm.
I learn something new every day!
Best regards
Bill

Kent0826:
Tivo remotes are radios - not infrared. You can point them at the moon, and they will still work... They will work from behind a wall.
I don't know for sure, but I don't think they emit an infrared signal at all...
