Can someone enlighten me on the operation of the Surround Sound in my 2005 Horizon. The owners manual is little help. I would like to know what switches or settings need to be made to have surround sound work with (1) TV (2) DVD player (3) radio.

I thought I had the DVD settings figured out but the sound from the TV's speakers override the other speakers. When I turn the TV speakers off, all sound is lost.

Try playing with the aux radio switch on the right side of the driver's instrument panel. Just make sure your head isn't under the TV. My speakers came on really LOUD and I dented the bottom of the TV frame.

Rex - the Q-Surround is not 5.1 digital - it is some kind of synthesis to approximate 5.1. The audio out from the TV drives the input to the Q-Surround. I believe the DVD audio out goes to the TV audio in - it has been a while since I had my TV pulled out.

The radio works fine with the Q-Surround - I don't have to do anything with it except to be sure the power switch is in the house position (when the engine isn't running.)

The Q-Surround will only work when a true stereo signal is present. My old buddy Tomcat did a very detailed report on this system for this forum a year or so ago. The system is unusual to say the least and has caused a lot of questions. You can call RiverPark Inc 800-442-7717 or go to their site riverparkinc.com
for more information...

I am still seeking answers. The River Park web site has no information on Q-surround. I did a search on this forum and didn't find anything about how to set up the Q-Surround.

How are you guys doing it?

I have sound out of all of my speakers I think all of the time; not sure if it really needs a stereo signal.

This is the way it sounds best to my old ears. On the dash:Speakers set to TV,Radio power set to House.
On the TV audio menu:set Steady Sound ON,set Effect SIMULATED,set mts STEREO.
I also pushed up the BASS on the TV

I rarely use the Q sound system in my 2005. From what I read on the mailing lists many, including myself, have Q systems with hum and other problems.

Winnebago finally gave up on the Q system for 2006 and is now using a home Sony surround sound true 5.1 system.

At some point I may change out my poor performing Q system to a regular Sony home 110v amp.

Does any one have a Q system that sounds great and is not picking up hum from the invertor/convertor, etc???

I just checked my build sheet and I paid $609MSRP (~$400) for the Q sound system.

When I use mine I go into the menu on my Sony TV and turn OFF the built in TV speakers.

You may want to check your TV MENU under SOUND. There are some options there that may disable the sound out from your TV to the Q system.

Be sure that you switch from TV to DVD using the TV/video button on the TV remote and not on the Winegard switch (for the front TV).

Thanks for all the suggestions. The only way I can get the Q-Surround to work is with the DVD player playing a movie and the TV/Video switch set to Video 1. Even so the TV speakers overpower the other speakers.
