Starlink ladder mount and cabling solution
Thought a few folks might be interested in my current solution for mounting a Starlink dish to my 2108DS and bringing its data cable into the rig.
I purchased a custom Starlink mount from Axia Alloys, and bolted it to the ladder rail on top of my trailer. I had to experiment to find a location that wouldn't interfere with movement of the dish, and ultimately settled for the horizontal portion of the rail that parallels the roof. To keep it from slipping on the round, smooth ladder rail, I put a small ring of double-sided sandpaper inside the clamp.
The next step was to find a cable route down into the front storage compartment. This is a perfect location for my Starlink router because it is lockable, provides easy access to A/C outlets inside the camper, and already had an unused "Solar on the Side" connector that I could easily remove to avoid drilling an entirely new hole into the exterior wall.
My first idea was to install a waterproof Ethernet jack in the hole where the solar connector used to be, but Starlink's non-standard wiring scheme scared me off. So I decided to just buy a new cable from Starlink and thread it through the hole. To make it look nicer and provide a way to seal it up when not in use, I bought a coax cable connector with a waterproof flip-lid, then drilled out the coax jack to create an opening wide enough for the cable.
So far, I'm really happy with this solution. I'm obviously not going to travel with the dish up or the cable running into the storage area, but with the Axia Alloys mount on the rooftop ladder and the pass-through port ready to use, I figure I can get everything set up or taken down in just minutes every time I change locations.
