2013 TV won't read HDMI

Hi, everyone - a real newbie here. We bought a 2013 ERA on MB Sprinter. The TV's have HDMI access, but I bought brand new cable and adapter to hook to my Iphone and it still says there is no signal. Tried an Amazon Firestick with the same result. The TV is a Jensen LECD. Is it too old to support this kind of technology? Thanks in advance for the help.

The info we need did you change the "Source" on the menu to HDMI? And if it has more than one HDMI input, but sure you change the source to the proper one of the multiple HDMI inputs.

Yes, we did this. Also tried to use an Amazon Fire Stick but nothing. Is there any kind of a switch somewhere that I don't know about?

You are plugging the HDMI directly into the TV or into an HDMI input in a switcher in a cabinet in the RV?

Sometimes there is... but it would have no effect on plugging directly into the TV. When doing that the only thing that matters is setting the source to the input you are using.

I'd ask about a bad HDMI cable, but I presume you are not using a cable with the Fire Stick device.

The iPhone, I can't comment on. Too many variables there.

If the TV has HDMI input then it should be able to accept a signal from the Fire Stick, and probably from the iPhone too, but I'm not familiar with those.

Two things to try
1) If you have an existing, working, HDMI connection to the TV try moving it to a different port on the TV, just to verify that port is working.
2) If the Fire Stick is new and you've not used it yet, try using it on your home TV to verify that it works, and that you know HOW it works. The one I have is quirky. I have to turn it on and press the 'home' button and then wait several seconds before it will display anything on the TV. Until then it's just a black screen 'waiting for signal', and just about the time I think that the Fire Stick isn't working the screen will finally display.

Or, use this as your excuse to go to Best Buy and buy a spiffy new smart TV so that you don't have to connect other devices to it.

Replace it with a “smart” TV
