Weighing RV

I hear weighing each wheel is the best way to do it. I looking for suggestions on where to get weighed like that? How much different is there between weighing individual wheels vs. by the axle?

Thanks

If you are an Escapees member they they offer a "Smart Weigh" service. They give you an exact weight on each side wheel set on all axles. You can google search Escapees Smart Weigh and learn more. They offer it at many rallies and when not at rallies they offer it at some of the Escapees owned parks. There is a reasonable cost.

I think you'll find everything you're looking for plus a lot of other pertinent information here:

Tire Inflation Tables Work - iRV2 Forums

It's important to know side-to-side weights by axle since all tires on an axle need to be filled to the pressure that's appropriate for the heaviest side. Absent this information, it's a good idea to fill your tires to 110% of the psi specified by the tables to allow for side-to-side variance.

I go to the land fill/dump where they weigh incoming trucks and pay $5 to get weighed.

Full disclosure - I haven't checked the weight of my RV yet.

1. There is a truck stop in Kent, WA that charges $12
2. Some Washington State weight stations leave the scales operational when they are closed (depending on type of scale).

Get the Cat Scale apps. There's one to find the scales and one to use them. If you set the latter up beforehand (including giving it your credit card info) you can just fire it up, enter a code and drive right onto the scale.

If you look at their web page they have several different ways to weigh, but the most common for RVers would be just front and rear on motorhomes and front/rear and trailer on towables. $12 and when you're done they will email you a document giving you your weights (and you can also write them down). A re-weigh if you need to change something costs something less.

As David_Laura mentions, some Washington scales are left open, but more and more of those are being torn down. Also, it would take probably at least three measurements to get the same information.
