Trying to select a tire pressure and temperature monitoring system.
Any advice is appreciated.

Considering:
TST 507
Doran 360RV
Pressure Pro

Thoughts on tire equalizer systems and TPMS...

I have been using the TST system for many years now and it has been reliable and the company service is excellent.

Upgraded to the 507 a few years back and like it.

I've used the TST 507 non-flow-thru with B&W monitor for the last 3 years - very reliable and great customer service. They're just releasing a new color monitor if you're interested. On my 43' coach with toad I found a repeater necessary to ensure the toad tires are always reading.

I do have friends who use other brands and report being satisfied. The real secret is 'buy one of the name brands and use it.'

Just went to their web site and couldn't find any reference to the color monitor. I am very interested and they've been talking about it for some time. Have you got a link?

We've used Tire Minder with good luck.

I've got a tire equalizer that looks like two filler hoses tapped into a single gauge that I use whenever I'm adjusting pressure on the dualies. I swear by it.

But that being said, I bought it in a Georgia truck stop and I have never seen one since.

I've looked at the CROSSFIRE system but I have no experience with it. I'm happy at the moment doing it manually.

The color monitor was reported on IRV2 posts as being sold at RV Shows only for now with more sales access later. Suggest a call to Mike from TST for more info at 407-443-0899 or 770-889-9102.

I bought the TST 507 TPMS several months ago before an 1900 mile trip. It worked great and gave me peace of mind with just a glance at the monitor. I have a 27' TT and I did not experience any dropped signal and I don't have the repeater.

My used Sunstar LX 27N came with a Tire-Safe Guard system. Works well and pricing of new units is good. Not color, but has all the alarms you would want, low pressure, overtemp, over pressure, slow leak. It also doesn't require a range extender.

I bought my TST 507 set about a month before they announced the new color monitor. Figures.

Had the TST system and it was nothing but trouble. The pass through sensors would not allowing charging of the tires very quickly and I had several fail. Never made a trip without a TST problem. Even the monitor failed. The power port pushed in.

I now have EEZ. Great monitor and very easy to set up. The sensors are very well made and pass air with no restrictions. The battery life claim is not realistic though. They should be replaced once a year.

Changed my EEZ for the TST with color monitor. Love the monitor. So easy to see. Completed our first 1700 mile trip and it worked great.
I’ll hang on to my EEZ just in case but they look to be very similar in construction.

Has TST changed the design of their pass through sensors to be more like EEZ's?

Why did you switch?

I really like the color screen. So much easier to see in daylight.
Sensors appear very similar.

When I had TST I did have great customer service. The problem was that I had to frequently use them. The pass through sensors were built with no valve pin in the bottom as I recall. I had a miserable time getting air into the tire. The battery compartments leaked water and the monitor screen was had to read in bright light.

I have no idea how the EEZ customer service is. I have had no need to use them. The monitor is easy to read and the sensors have a bottom valve pin that positively opens the valve it is attached to. The tires fill as if there is no sensor at all. I guess a color monitor would be nice but if I can see what I have I don't need one.

TST is very well advertised and has done a great job of getting their name out to the RV and trucker world. EEZ falls far short in advertising. I think it was on a forum I first herd of EEZ.

My new response for most "what brand should I buy" posts is:

1. You're going to get a ton of differing opinions, some for brand A, some for B, etc. Kind of like should you buy a Ford or a Chevy. In most, but not all cases, people seem to like what they bought.

2. Use the responses to ID the most commonly liked brands, determine what, if any, features might interest you the most and make your decision.

3. The typical Class A, with dualies, will need 6 sensors, add a toad and you need 10, so make sure you're comparing apples to apples when pricing different systems.

Personally I chose EEZ, primarily because it was a little less expensive and I was in the process of spending quite a lot of money on RV stuff. Installation and set-up was very easy it works well although I haven't had any tire problems and it gives me great piece of mind.

In any case, be aware that the flow-through sensors typically have more issues than the non-flow-through ones.

Also, if you have flexible valve extensions on your dualies, I suggest you replace them with solid extensions. This is what I did since I didn't want my sensors flopping around and risk damage to them or the flexible extensions, even though the extensions were secured to the wheel covers.
