Need tires

My motorhome is due for new tires. It current has 255R80 22.5 Michelins. I am looking to replace them with either Michelins or Hankooks. Does anyone know where I can find them in the Austin, Texas area for a reasonable price? So far Walkers Tires has quoted me $2835 for the Hankooks and $3900 for the Michelins (out the door). Also, what is your opinion on the 2 tires or any other for that matter. Thanks for your input.

No, but I think FMCA still has their discount program going for Michelin tires. You need to be an FMCA member and talk to a participating dealer.

Check the FMCA discount as was stated earlier.

Boy, the prices have really jumped! I bought 4 275/70 22.5's and 2 305/70 22.5's and paid just over $3,200 in Sept 2010. No FMCA discount then either.

It's not in the immediate Austin area but it's worth a 40 or so mile trip north up the interstate to Jerrell. The Jerrell Tire Shop is well worth it with great service and low prices. I know they have Michelin and other brands.

But then he might run into Oemy.

Oemy's not running anymore, more of a slow trot at best. He's the one who put me on to the Jarrell Tire Shop.

I replaced my Michelin 275/80R22.5 LRH XZA2's with Continental HSL's 3 to 4 yrs ago for $100 less per tire. They have been great tires. Best One Tire stores sell both Michelin and Continental, but I haven't shopped tires in the Austin area.

Hi Ho: Try Costco for Michelin tires. You may have to get them balanced/mounted somewhere else, but it saved me several hundred dollars.

I put Hankook's on my Rig due to the R.V. Managers advice at my Ford Dealership. So far so good.

Sir...
We just put 265/75R22.5 Bridgestones on our 05 36ft Journey that we recently bought used to replace the Michelins which still had decent tread at 48,000 but were six years old and weather checked.

After a bit of research evidently although Michelins are great tires and wear well the materials they use does not stand up to weather checking as well as other brands.

I'll second the Costco idea. I bought my Michelins there and saved a lot of money, and tires were one week old when I received them. 235/80's 22.5---they may not have your size but it is well worth asking. Had another tire shop install.
