Koni shocks on a winnebago
Does anyone have an opinion if Koni shocks will help improve the handling or just the ride of my 38J?

It really depends on what you want to cure. What chassis are we talking about?

Koni's
The stock bilsteins shocks were ok, but the koni's ride is much better in my opinion on my Itasca.

And you are trying to cure harsh ride, sway, wandering, body roll, etc?
First thing to start with is the have the coach weighed at the four corners when it is loaded for travel including occupants, redistributing items if off blanced side side or too heavily biased front to back getting rid of items if overloaded and then inflate the tires according to the tire manufactures weight chart. Many find that this alone is all they need to get the ride they desire.

I have them, I like them. I had a serious overshoot issue with the stock shocks, more like not having shocks.

Hi,
I replaced my Monroe shocks with the Konis and it made a world of difference as the shocks I took off were no good as far as shocks go.
The Koni's will give you a better ride but will not help any sway you have or rock and roll.. You will need sway bars for that problem.
Good luck!

I also replaced the stock Monroe shocks with Koni's on our 33V (W20) at 38k miles. The original shocks were shot, resulting in some body roll when turning and noticeable wind effects when passing or being passed by large trucks. The new shocks eliminated the problems.

Quite a few years ago, replaced stock shocks on the front suspension of our coach with the Koni FSD's, made a world of difference in ride improvement.

Not sure if mine were shot but I replaced them many moons ago, passing trucks are not an issue anymore. Much better handling with the Koni shocks!

My two cents on shocks is this: When I bought the coach (27'), it was equipped with Bilsteins on the front, and looked like OEM's on the back. The backs were not doing what they needed to do so I replaced them and the fronts with the monroe matic gas magnums. I am totally pleased with the ride of the coach. I am of the opinion the Bilsteins were too stiff for my small coach.
For my money and the coach, I could not justify the cost of the Bilstiens or Koni's.

A set of Koni's are the best value (bang for the buck) handling mod you can make. Aside from a 4 wheel weigh with loading and air pressure adjustments (practically free).
Get weighed & shocks before investing in sway and/or track bars & steering stabilizers. IMHO & experience with an 07 W22 Adventurer 33V.
