How Much Leaning Is OK ?

My wife followed me home from having some work done on the front-end, and told me I would guess that was what she was seeing.

Stupid laptop. I had much more in the initial post, but it has gone into the ether.

While our street is crowned, I thought that taking measurements from the lower edge of the body to the ground would be a good place to start.

Left front 17.75" Right front 17.50"

Left rear 19.50" Right Rear 19.00"

We brought the coach home in a heavy cross wind, and down here in Way South Texas, as most of our roads have a sand base, roads are heavily crowned.

I can drive to a Lowe's store that has a large lot, most of it seems to be flat, but I don't think the numbers would change. I believe most of what she was seening was an illusion based a a high cross wind, and a crowned road.

The wind was from the left, pushing the coach to the right. We were mostly in the left lane, which is sloped to the right.

Ideas or suggestions?

Thanks....

I don't think a 1/2" at most is really leaning

Ah, that's better are you using the latest version of Firefox and Win 7 ?

there's some bugs in the new firefox where a touch of the mouse pad or left arrow will 'zap' text in forums, but still the browser of choice for most IT types

I'd say take it to a known level place to measure if you are that concerned..

borrow a four foot level to see if it's your bumper or the ground but 1/2 is not an issue...

Like you said you need to take it to a flat lot and measure it. My guess is you are ok, just filling tanks ie. gas water, propane, etc. will give you a half inch difference.

if you want to find out what is happening. find a level spot in a parking lot. mark where your tires are. take your measurements. then turn your rv around and park on the same spots. measure aagain. if the numbers stay the same maybe your rvs load needs to be balanced. if it's empty then you'll have an idea where to load your heavy items.

wonderer1, GREAT idea. I will find a flat place, measure all four corners, mark around the tires with chalk, turn the silly thing around.

Good thinking...

If you have airbag suspension and automatic ride-height valves then the correct place to measure is between the axle and the chassis. Each manufacturer will have a designated spot but the principal is similar.

It is possible to set the valves to eliminate even 1/2" of difference, but in practice the normal dead-band in the valves will result in differences as you step out the door so you are worrying about very little.

measuring from the body to the ground introduces other errors such as difference in tyre inflation, misalignment of the body structure etc.

If you don't have airbag suspension and ride height valves, then unless your loading is perfectly even, it is inevitable you will get side to side differences.
