I just ordered today 6 new Michelin XRV 235/80/22.5 tires. I am keeping one of these for an unmounted spare.
I live in Los Angeles County area. If anyone can pick a tire up within 6 weeks, I will save two.
I get my tires mounted in about a week, willing to keep another tire at my house for another month if needed. Let me Know.

Oh yeah--for those interested. $2400.00 out the door, including balancing etc, etc.

Just for those interested as to why I went with this tire.
It is the same tire as came on my motorhome 7.5 yrs ago. I am 800 to 900 pounds under each 4 corner weight of tires capacity, so I am allready running at reduced air pressure per Michelin charts.
I do not have to worry about any speedometer correction .
It has served well and still the tires look good as to tread, but has small sidewall cracks.
Anyway, bottom line its time.
So let me know, respnd to thread/Pm/or e-mail.

Sure wish those were 255/80's, I've been looking for a used tire for a spare with no luck at all. Probably wouldn't have paid to have it shipped back to Oklahoma, but I can dream and wish anyway. Very nice of you to offer, too bad everyone that has new tires installed doesn't post the same offer for those in the immediate area who might need one for a spare.

I have 6 in S. Georgia if anyone is interested. Good tread, no cracks, just 7 years old.

I also still have 2, in good shape (except for being 7 years old). They have only 20k or so miles, and have been stored in the garage for 3 years

Free to anyone who wants them.

HI RoadKing52 & CaptBill - are yours 235/80 or 255/80? Wonder what it would cost to have a 22.5 tire shipped across country?
I'm going to be in Fayetteville, Arkansas this next week so am going to check several truck tire shops since that area has several trucking companies. So many times all I can find have already be recapped for semi-trailers.

Mine are gone. I kept one and left the other 5 at the tire shop. Sorry.

It apparently a quick turnaround for my tires to be built in 2-02, shipped to freightliner, chassis built and to winnebago and have a build date of 5-02/
Even if the tires had an early build date in 2-02 and my coach a late 5-02 build date your looking at just 4 months.

Ron ...

That indeed was "just in time" manufacturing in your case ... I was not so fortunate ... my tires were built the last week of 02, chassis in 03 ... it is an 04 model ... I bought in in March of 04 ...

I will need to be changing my tires soon ... because of age ... not wear ... I have 66,000 miles and the tread still looks good as new ...

Thanks for sharing the details ...

Mine are 235/80, but would still be a decent "get-home" tire for a 255/80 that failed. Don't know about shipping costs, but I expect it would be high.

I was wondering also about the possibility of a "get out of a jam spare", but looking at Michelin's chart the 235 is 1.1 inches smaller in diameter and turns 15 revs more per mile than the 255. There's a good chance if the flat was on a rear dual, the good tire might also be ruined by the time any distance was traveled.
Some place I think I remember reading about the questionability of using a new tire and used tire on the same side in a dual mix. Really makes a person wonder whether its better to have a new spare or a used one, depending on the wear of the tires on the coach when the spare was needed as there could be several hundred miles involved with the spare.
Nothing is ever cut & dryed with these coaches.

Wagonmaster2 ...

When I was a lad (and in the days before all weather tires and front wheel drive) ... my dad used to buy an extra rim and 2 snow tires ... he carried the snow tire as a spare ...

On more than one occasion he drove with the snow tire on the front for a day or two until he got the tire fixed ... the car always pulled a little but it got us home ...

SO ... if you had an unequal "extra" tire and you got a flat on the back ... couldn't you take a front tire off and mount it on the back and put the "unequal" on the front ... it may drive a little wierd but it should get you home ....

Sounds good to me, do you recon a Roadside Service Company would do that much work? Those 10 lug nuts on each wheel set to 450 Lbs. torque might cause them to hesitate on a deal like that. I know on a car with posi-track differential and a mini-size spare, they recommend doing just that if you have a flat on the rear. I've had several cars like that but never had a flat on the rear.
