I short cut to Freightliner Chassis forum since this is more a FL question. FL installs the wheels at their factory in Gaffney, SC. At least, all those chassis I saw in their storage lot already had wheels on them....nice, new, shiney wheels .

My Winnebao has a Spartan chassis. There is nothing between the inner steel wheel and the outer aluminum.

My chassis is 6 1/2 yrs old with a little under 50k miles. I had a chance to examine my wheels about 3 weeks ago when I had new tires put on the rear. There was no visible damage where the wheels mate.

Don't believe they do, but it certainly is a good idea. Maybe something like a thin teflon sheet or perhaps some sort of lubricant? Good idea !!

I use an anti-sieze compound on the studs.
